Our story
Calmai Studio was born from a simple but powerful question:
Why is it still so hard to find sustainable, beautiful, and durable sofas for professional spaces?
After more than 25 years designing interiors and managing complex supply chains for premium hospitality and retail brands, our founder, Sophie Lambert, saw the same frustration repeat itself across projects. Sofas that wore out too quickly. Collections that changed too often. Materials with no transparency. And above all, an industry that still treated furniture as disposable, even in high-traffic, high-investment environments.
So, she decided to act.
Sofas designed with conscience, for the people who use them, the spaces they belong to, and the planet that sustains us.
We partnered with local workshops in Spain. We sourced FSC-certified wood, non-toxic recycled foams, and fabrics made from discarded bottles and textiles waste. We developed modular systems with washable covers and replaceable parts. We built a logistics model that avoids excess, overproduction, and waste. We designed everything with professionals in mind, who need style, performance, and accountability.
Because we believe that every sofa has the power to tell a story, not just of comfort and design, but of responsibility, respect, and long-term impact.

Sophie Lambert grew up in the heart of Alt Empordà, surrounded by wild landscapes, Mediterranean light, and a deep family heritage rooted in art and craftsmanship. That early bond with nature instilled in her not only a love for beauty, but also a strong awareness of our environmental responsibility.
With more than 25 years leading interior design, furniture sourcing, and complex supply chains across Europe, Sophie has always sought to align functionality with ethics. CALMAI is her answer to a growing need in the professional world: modular, beautiful, and truly conscious sofas—made locally, with integrity, for spaces that matter.
